CCD’s Award Winning Artist
January 15, 2016 /
A huge congratulations to Senior Architectural Technologist Neil Hipkiss who has won a prestigious UK art award for one of his incredible paintings. Back in July Neil attended a Centenary Reception hosted by the aircraft manufacturer Agusta Westland at the Mall Galleries, London, to celebrate their 100 years of UK aircraft production.
At this reception his painting ‘Joint Force’, which he created specifically for this event, was awarded the ‘Westland Centenary Prize’ for the best exhibit, with the prize being presented to him by Michael Turner (Guild President) and the Secretary of State for Defence, The Rt Hon Michael Fallon MP.
AgustaWestland have also produced a book of artworks ‘The Art of Flight’, which includes another of Neils paintings ‘Merlin Force’. All artwork included in the book was donated free by the various artists. All proceeds from sales of the book will be donated to the two Westland Centenary Charities, Blind Veterans UK and the Yeovil Opportunity Group.
‘Joint Force’ was also voted runner up in the Knockolds Trophy which is chosen by public vote.
More of Neils work can be seen on his website, including a previous commission of a Learjet flying over Herm.
