Fundraising begins for Blanchelande’s sports hall

May 8, 2017 /

CDD’s Design Director and Chartered Architect, Oliver Westgarth, has been working with the Blanchelande Trust to design a new sports hall for the school. It will host an array of sports, events and activities and act as a community hub in the future.

The Trust is currently fundraising for the contemporary sports hall, which will link to and complement its surroundings both structurally and naturally as it is directly influenced by the historic architecture of the original building and the rural setting of the school itself.

Oliver recently spoke at the launch of the fundraising campaign:

The use of timber cladding and evergreen climbing plants in the courtyard area economically reflect Blanchelande’s natural surrounding and the large doors that open on the side of the sports hall will generate natural ventilation and enable the building to be used as an activities area, dance/drama studio or theatre venue; creating a much more versatile place for the children and the community.

Our physical 3D scale model has been carefully constructed to showcase our plans to create a new, modern and improved sports hall for all to enjoy.
