Regular CCD collaborator Stephen Welch has won gold for his exhibit at this year’s Chelsea flower show!

The Garden Bed’, which was inspired by Les Bourgs Hospice, picked up the highest accolade in the Artisan gardens category.

Stephen worked on the exhibit with master Florist Alison Doxey; speaking of the win he said: “It’s a real honour to win the top prize at such a prestigious competition; this really is a fantastic achievement. Both Alison and I were overwhelmed when we heard the news.

“We’ve had lots of people coming over and complementing the garden but with such tough competition in the artisan category we weren’t expecting gold!”

Stephen Welch has worked closely with CCD on a number of major projects in Guernsey over the last 7 years.

Andrew Dyke from CCD Architects, who designed the hospice and the concept of the bedroom-to-garden access, said: “It’s great to see that Stephen has done so well at this year’s show. Stephen is a regular collaborator with CCD and this is a brilliant achievement for him and Alison. Landscape design is such an integral part of a successful project and we often engage with Stephen early on in the design process so as to maximise the opportunities that the landscape has to offer.”
