The project included rewiring, replumbing, major ceiling and plaster replacement, and careful repairs to the historic timber roof and floor structures. Leadwork, flagstones, doors, windows, shutters, and ironmongery were all repaired; Brockhurst is unique because of the superior quality and quantity of these elements.
A flat-roofed, Georgian-style orangery replaced a 20th Century conservatory, and the original plan form was largely retained. During works, 18th-century panelling and a concealed doorway were uncovered, prompting a layout revision to reveal the original dining room entrance.
The combination of exposed Early Georgian elements with later Victorian detailing celebrates the building’s layered history while delivering a functional, modern home.
